Procrastination have caused a lot of harm to people, it have made people lose what they could have gotten only if they didn’t postpone what they could have done.
It has affected most students and have made them want to look for illegal ways of passing an exam.

If you do listen to the saying of Successful persons, motivators, they will always tell you to flee from procrastination.
Laziness is different from procrastination although they are almost the same thing but there is a difference.
You can be hardworking and still procrastinate, that doesn’t makes you a lazy person, it’s just that lazy persons procrastinate most of the time.

Procrastinate is when you postpone what you are supposed to do at the right time.
Procrastination can be in different ways.
Some would even say that procrastination is a disease and if we look at it well it is indeed a disease.
Once you contract it, it affects different aspects of your life until you find a cure to it.

For example, you have a exam to write in 2 days time, when you are supposed to start reading, you keep postponing it, telling yourself that you would real later.
I will be highlighting different ways of stop procrastination

1. Commitment.

This is a very powerful way of overcoming procrastination, people who are committed to everything they don’t procrastinate.
If you have been procrastinating and you want to stop, you should be committed to even the smallest thing you are doing.
Commitment is when you surrender to certain tasks you are given to do.

You make it look as if you are responding to your masters order.
For example, your mummy told you to wash the dishes before she comes back and you are playing a very interesting game which you wouldn’t want to stop.

What should come to your mind is that, your mummy will beat or punish you for disobeying her order even if you know your mum won’t beat or punish you.
You getting up immediately to wash the dishes before your mum comes back is commitment to your mummy order.

2. Self discipline.

This is a very important quality one must have, it have a lot of advantages in any aspect.
Self discipline have different meanings but to my understanding self discipline is when you deprive yourself of enjoyment from doing the wrong thing by doing the right thing at the right time.

People who are self disciplined seems to be very scarce especially in this era. Some persons doesn’t do the right thing because of their selfish interests.

If you are self disciplined, whatever the condition might be, you would never do the wrong thing.
When you are self disciplined, you won’t procrastinate because you will always want to carry out certain task at the right time.

3. Be a goal killer.

There are some persons who write down all goals they have achieved by the end of the month and they will always want to achieve many goals.
This is one of the best method to avoid procrastination, when you have this mindset of accomplishing many goals within a short period of time. Set specific goals for each task, with a clear deadline. This will help you to stay focused and on track.

You won’t even have time to procrastinate because you have a lot of goals to achieve within a short period of time.
At the end of every month, write down all the goals you have achieved in your dairy and you should plan on accomplishing more in the next month, this will help you overcome procrastination.

4. Be Time Conscious.

Time doesn’t wait for anyone and it can’t be slower or reversed.
That’s the reason it is better doing what you are supposed to do early because it might be too late when you decide to do it later.

When you are time conscious, you wouldn’t want to waste time, you would want to complete all task as soon as possible.
This will help you in overcoming procrastination.

Use a timer to break tasks into manageable time slots. This helps you to stay focused and avoid distractions.

5. Use positive reinforcement.

Reward yourself when you achieve your goals. This reinforces positive habits and helps to motivate you to continue. Share your goals and progress with someone you trust, such as a friend or mentor. This can help you to stay accountable and motivated. Remove any temptations that distract you from your work, such as snacks or TV.


Remember that overcoming procrastination is a process, and it takes time and effort to develop new habits. Be patient and persistent, and you will eventually be able to overcome procrastination and achieve your goals.
